Richard T. Counsman

Attorney Counsman has been practicing in Birth Injury and Medical Malpractice since his admission to the Bar in 1985. He graduated from Thomas Cooley Law School in 1985, with a Juris Doctorate.  He received his undergraduate degree was from the esteemed Kalamazoo College in 1981, where he studied while starring as a tailback for the Kalamazoo football team.  He received his undergraduate degree in Political Science. 

His employment experience provides the client with valuable insight into how the other side thinks and approaches cases.  He was a partner and shareholder with one of the most prominent Medical Malpractice Law Firms in Michigan and the United States for ten years before going over to the plaintiff side, representing injured people, children, and families in birth injury and medical malpractice cases. 

He represents children, families, mothers, and fathers whose lives are impacted by the malpractice and negligence of medical professionals.  

Today, he specializes in birth injury cases involving cerebral palsy, erbs palsy, infection, brain damage, preventable premature births.  Like any substantial damage medical malpractice lawyer he is well equipped to handle large civil disputes on behalf of claimants, plaintiffs, injured children, injured parties, who have to go to the Courts by claim or lawsuit to  get compensation for the wrongs dealt them.

In 2010, Mr. Counsman was certified by the dbLawyers Top Lawyers, as a "Top Lawyer" in Medical Malpractice.  He was also recognized by Detroit's Premier business journal as one of the top lawyers in Detroit in his field.

Attorney Counsman has two teenage children who are active in sports and school.  He continues to play Hockey weekly, and coach football and other sporting activities.
